GHOST TRAIN

Waiting, oh, waiting, last train of the night
Hear a bell ring, see the light
Whole car to myself, all aboard, just me
Close my eyes for a minute, fall asleep
I wake up when I feel someone's hand on my arm
Whisper telling me, "Don't be alarmed"
Open my eyes, nobody's there
But the voices are everywhere:

"Oh, we just want to take you home
For you've spent far too long on the roam
A quiet place, a tiny space, deep underground
You can't be found."

Close in on a station and I pull the cord
Stop requested but you guessed it, I'm ignore
The train hurtled on forward into the night
Better tell the conductor, something's not right
When I get to the front, empty seat's dusty
Who's driving this thing? Somebody must be!
"You're going insane," the voices pound in my brain,
"Please move to the back of the train!

"Oh, we just want to take you home
For you've spent far too long on the roam
A quiet place, a tiny space, deep underground
You can't be found."

I gotta get out of here
That's the thought that keeps on running through my head
I gotta get out of here
But we're traveling who-knows-where top speed ahead
I gotta get out of here
That's the thought that keeps on running through my head
I gotta get out of here
'Cause we're traveling who-knows-where
Top speed ahead!

Never in a situation like this before
That's what the emergency stop is for
I pulled it down, pushed open the door
I'm not gonna take this anymore
Ran through the tunnel, away from the light
I saw a station ahead in the night
When I got there, you wouldn't believe,
It was my stop! What a relief.

"Oh, we just want to take you home
For you've spent far too long on the roam
A quiet place, a tiny space, deep underground
You can't be found."
